Little Italy
I walked to Chinatown to get some lunch yesterday and I came across a Italian Restaurant in little Italy. I found out a dialog between a couple (tourist) and a guy who try to bring ppl to the restaurant are hilarious:
(Tourist): What is this dish?
(A Guy): This is....(I can't hear clearly what he said)
(Tourist): But it's more expensive than the other restaurant
(A Guy): Because it included a bread, meat and pasta. (Then he pushes the couple into the restaurant)
A bread..isn't it free anyway?

My perfect lens?
I found out it's harder and harder to use 50mm to take photos on the street. I think a perfect lens for me is 10-70mm f 1.4 or f2.8 IS if it ever exists. I don't know if I will be happy with the 17-55mm f2.8 IS, because it's just hard to procedure a good pic indoor and low light situation.

Where is the head?
This was taken at the front entrance at Stuyvesant High School. I wonder where is the head of the hawk or it has the other meaning of it.

Se Ja Meh
I'm glad this restaurant is close by where I live. It used to be one of my favorite lunch spot with my coworker because it's just right around the corner (26 John Street). Their "Dolsot Bibimbop" is awesome! I didn't know they moved to 114 Greenwich Street until I received their menu about 2 months ago. I had a chance to order it early this week because my mom and sister came to visit Brendan. Those little containers are kimchi dishes. They gave us so many and they are free! Overall, the quality is pretty good. Would love to have an "Isupport" lunch there soon!

Not even 17mm will do
At first, I want to shoot the whole building of where I attend the training. However, 24mm just couldn't make it at all, I doubt even 17mm can do that. Well, this building has over 45 floor. Is there anyway I can do the trick with 24-70mm?
I'm debating whether I should stay home after class to study for the exam tomorrow or enjoy with badminton first and deal with the pain later.

Artistic?
I found this pic quiet interesting as it feels a bit artistic to me. I'm still fairly new to photography world and I'm still try to cooperate between technical part and artistic part. As you may know, artistic is a very subjective matter. More ppl critique my pics will definitely improve both of my skill sets.
How can I find more follower? I wish blogger.com could provides the search function to look for your gmail address friends from your address book.

Bicycles
I took this pic during my break from training. Those bikes belong to one of the pizza store near my work area. I remembered they don't have that many last year. Maybe this explains why people are tend to "cheap eat" more due to the bad economy. Also, I wonder how many stolen one in here :)

195 Broadway
Good morning. Today is president's day and our office is closed. However, I have to attend a training class this week (included today) and need to go to office to take care some work. Sucks :(
This pic taken in the lobby in my office. The interior design is so attractive. I heard ppl had their wedding shoot here. I always want to take a snapshot of it but I'm afraid the security isn't allow. Today I only see one security at the front desk so I was lucky to take some good shoots :)

Brendan's 1st Birthday Party
This pic was taken from Brendan's 1st year old birthday party. He was crying because most of his gifts are clothes or pants but those are for 18 months and up. He couldn't wear it. I was surprise he knew that.
Ha ha. Just kidding. The truth is, his little cousin (Catherine - upper left sized) was playing with the balloon and didn't noticed Brendan was in front of her, so she literally kicked his butt. Ouch!
I was actually LOL when taking this photo and surprised it wasn't that blurry ;)

24-70mm f2.8
I borrowed the 24-70mm f2.8 from Rob. This is a great lens. I mounted it on my 40D as soon as I back home and started shooting. I noticed the f2.8 is a bit difficult to get a good shot indoor if the light situation isn't that good. After dinner, I went outside to shoot. It was very windy and cold. I didn't go anywhere far but just my building downstair.
Here is the shoot I like:
I like it because I can captured the blue light reflection (like a star). I was wonder why the white light on the left didn't shows the star shape. I think I should set shutter speed a bit longer, so that it can absorbed more light, but then I need a tripod to prevent my hand shaking.

My 1st blog!
This is my 1st time to write a blog! I want to create one because I was inspired by my colleague (Rob Landrito) who taught me how to falling in love with photography. :) In my memory, I knew he loves to take photos about 5 years ago. I remembered when I bought a Canon G2 during that time, he showed me how to shoot an object in closer distance. I sold my beloved G2 3 years after, because it's too "heavy" for me. I bought a Canon SD550 later for it's light weight and compact size.
About 2 years ago, Rob and I went to J&R together to pick up his DSLR camera (I think that's the camera - Canon 5D, not the lens), I forgot exactly how much, but it was around $2500 - $3500. That time, I said to myself, I will never think of getting one because: 1) Too freaking expensive 2) Big and heavy. From time to time, Rob shows me his pics from his trips, it looks amazing but it didn't motivate me at all about photography. When he explains about the technology parts (ISO, shutter speed and AF), I always confuse about it and forgot it totally when I'm back to my desk.
The main reason why turn me into photography is my son - Brendan Chan. When I shoot with my P&S to him, I always got yell at "NO FLASH LIGHT!! IT'S NOT GOOD FOR THE BABY'S EYES!" Without flash light, my P&S just can't produce any good pics for indoor. I was thinking to buy a better and more expensive P&S that time, but then DSLR came to my mind. I started to googled it and talked to Rob again. I finally absorbed the technology part (about ISO, shutter speed and AF) and decided to buy my 1st DSLR. Finally, I bought the Canon 40D w/ 50mm f1.4 lens. Loved it. Althought it's not wide enough, but it's excellent for protrait.
Until now, I still couldn't believe I own a DSLR!! I didn't bought the entry level one but the semi-professional one. Am I out of my mind? Well, I was told 40D is very good for sports photography, so that I can learn it and shoot some badminton in action! Also, the build quality of 40D is way better than XSi/XS.
Here is my favor pic for my son (taken from Rob's Canon 5D w/ 85mm f1.8)
I will try to upload a pic at least once a week. This way, I will force myself to carry my 40D more often.
Once again, thanks Rob who brings me to this wonderful and expensive hobby :)
